Press Release: Annual Heirloom Tomato Transplant Sale a fundraiser for Alison's Whispers Adaptive & Therapeutic Riding,
Alison's Whispers is please to announce they will be sponsoring their first Heirloom Tomato Transplant Sale on Saturday May 9th as a fundraiser to support their Adaptive & Therapeutic Riding programs. The sale will be held at the Clausland Mountain Stable located on Nice Pak Lane in Orangeburg, NY between 10 am - 4 pm. Pony rides will also be part of the festivities! Being the Saturday of Mother's Day weekend, why not stop by and buy Mom some vegetable plants - the gift that keeps on giving throughout the harvest season!
There will be a large variety of Heirloom tomato plants as well as a great selection of herbs, eggplant, squash, cucumber, arthichokes and pepper plants. The plants are grown by Susan & Richard Sisti of Catalpa Ridge Farm, who have been holding similar sales for the past 8 years in New Jersey. Currently, over 90 varieties of heirloom & hybrid tomatoes will be offered as well as a limited offering of some Heritage Hybrid varieties, the most famous of which is the Ramapo Tomato. This variety was known as the “true Jersey tomato” 30 years ago and has not been commercially available for years. Farmer Rich will also be offering the Moreton variety, which also was a favorite Jersey tomato and often referred to as the "4th of July" tomato.
Some old-standby varieties such as Pink & Yellow Brandywine, Rutger's and Yellow Pear will be offered as well as some new varieties this year which include Tami G, Moonglow, Plum Lemon and Trophy to name a few.
Preorders will be accepted prior to the sale to be picked up during the day of the sale.
