Press Release:  6th Annual Heirloom Tomato Transplant Sale Sponsored by the Women's Club of Ramsey

The Woman's Club of Ramsey is please to announce they will be sponsoring their 6th Annual Heirloom Tomato Transplant Sale on May 16th. The sale will again be held at the Masonic Lodge on the corner of Lake Street & Franklin Turnpike in Ramsey between 10 am - 4 pm. This annual sale is a fund raiser for the Woman’s Club of Ramsey and helps to raise money for their charitable work.

There will be a large variety of Heirloom tomato plants offered as well as a limited offering of some Heritage Hybrid varieties, the most famous of which is the Ramapo Tomato. This variety was known as the “true Jersey tomato” 30 years ago and has not been commercially available for years. This will be our third year growing the very popoular Ramapo tomato and we have received great feedback.  Farmer Rich will also be offering the Moreton variety, which also was a favorite Jersey tomato and often referred to as the "4th of July" tomato.

There will also be a great selection of herb, eggplant, squash, cucumber artichokes & pepper plants in addition to the tomato transplants. These are grown by Susan & Richard Sisti of Catalpa Ridge Farm and as of this time, they have more than 90 different varieties of heirloom tomato plants growing to be offered at the sale on May 16th.  Some old-standby varieties such as Pink & Yellow Brandywine, Rutger's and Yellow Pear will continue to be offered. Many new varieties have been added this year, such as TamiG, Trophy, Moonglow, Plum Lemon and Nyagous to name a few. Preorders will be accepted prior to the sale to be picked up during the day of the sale. Anyone who wishes to see the current varieties that will be available are welcome to visit:  www.jerseygrown.com for a complete listing and the ability to order online. You are also welcome to phone Sue or Rich Sisti at: 973-209-4903 (between 6-8 pm)or e-mail jerseygrown@gmail.com and we can send you a form.

Directions: go to Maps on www.expedia.com & key in 24 N Franklin Turnpike Ramsey, NJ for more detailed directions. We will be set up in the Masonic Lodge Parking Lot at the corner of Lake Street & N. Franklin Turpike -  look for the red & white tents!
